About MTH Nepal

Mission to Himalaya, Nepal (MTHN) had its humble beginnings in 2018 in a very informal manner. Over the following years, it was realized that this mission would have a more significant impact if officially established. MTH was formally registered as an NGO on July 22, 2023, in the Office of the Company Registrar, Reg. No. 315409/080/081 and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC), Affiliation No: 55591.
MTH began as a small group of Christians who called themselves “The Friends of Nepal.” It has now developed into a multifaceted, busy NGO. The primary objective is to support the poor and disadvantaged rural communities by improving their quality of life. The goal is to free them from poverty. This is accomplished by providing access to quality medical services and educational resources.
As a faith-based organization, MTH is committed to sharing God’s love in the world in a practical, hands-on way. The initial endeavor has now become a multi-denominational, international ministry headquartered at the Bethel Christian Center Inc in Rockport, Indiana.
Who we are?

Vision
To serve and empower people to flourish in the impoverished Himalayas region of Nepal.

Mission
The mission of MTH is to bring spiritual, social, and economic transformation to Nepalis living in poverty through effective education.

Objectives
MTH seeks to improve entire communities and the nation of Nepal by helping individuals and families in desperate need.

Our Values
We believe that a healthy fear of God motivates us to help others and is the foundation of love and compassion toward others.
How we started?

Mission to Himalaya began by the inspiring journey of Dr. Shakta. His experience with traditional health interventions and the transformative power of education has led him to create an organization that supports those who may not have access to skilled medical treatment and education. Today, because of Shakta’s personal journey, MTH helps people who are sick receive the care they need, and individuals receive assistance with their education.
Dr. Shakta grew up in a rural, mountainous community. His family roots have steered the efforts of MTH back to the mountain communities. MTH believes that the mountain people of Nepal can have a great future. The organization seeks to inspire people to dream and ultimately pursue better livelihoods. With Dr. Shakta’s story as the foundation, MTH believes that many more will rise up in his footsteps and will effect great change in their villages.
What we do?
MTH focuses on supporting the rural, marginalized, tribal community in the areas of health care, education, community centers, and disaster relief. Assisting with income-generating activities is a very important component as well. MTH accomplishes this by working with local government efforts or individuals who are in need. This approach ensures that the most pressing needs are addressed and allows for a more comprehensive and effective response to the ever-changing needs.

Where we are?
MTH currently operates in Barpak-Sulikot, Aarukhat, Dharche, and Chumnubri, rural municipals located in the northern Gorkha District.
