Health

The rural areas of Nepal face various health challenges due to poor nutrition, inadequate shelter, limited access to medical care, and extreme poverty. To address this, MTH is dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to those in need. MTH’s volunteers and the local government of northern Gorkha work together to fulfill this commitment. The MTH’s ultimate goal is to ensure everyone has access to the quality healthcare they need and that no one dies without treatment.

Financial

MTH offers financial assistance to marginalized, indigenous, and rural tribal communities in Nepal to help offset the cost of medical treatment in government hospitals. This support is given based on the recommendations of local governments and volunteers of MTH.

Medical Supply

MTH is committed to supporting the government’s health posts and sub-health posts located in the northern Gorkha District. Our aim is to provide basic medical equipment and supplies to ensure that rural people have access to basic healthcare services locally. The medical supplies are provided upon request from the local government or MTH volunteers.

Zion Kunja

MTH has identified a concerning trend of sick individuals and families from the remote northern region of Gorkha.  This sickness has also resulted in those from Nepal’s rural, northern regions becoming stranded in Kathmandu after visiting for medical treatment.

In these situations, doctors have advised the sick to return for follow-up visits within one or two weeks.  Finding accommodations in the city for an extended period is difficult for these individuals. To address this issue, MTH has established a shelter named Zion Kunja to offer safe and comfortable accommodation for those needing housing while receiving medical treatment.  Individuals are only accepted into the shelter if recommended by local government officials from Gorkha or by MTH volunteers.
